Melanie Kirchmeier was raised in Salado. After her father, Bill Bartlett, moved his family to Salado in the early ’70s to start a career in real estate, Melanie attended Salado elementary and graduated from Salado High School. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor before transferring to and graduating from Southwestern University. Melanie is married to Bob Roemer, and they enjoy spending time with their three grown children: Kayla, Cameron, and Stephen. Bob and Melanie have added a son-in-law, Michael, and daughters-in-law, Sarah and Ricki, to their rowdy family. Melanie has FINALLY become a doting grandmother as her first grandbaby, Frances Ruth “Ruthie” is now 5 and grandson, Parker, was born in October 2022.

How I started as a

BUSINESS OWNER & REAL ESTATE BROKER

After graduating from Southwestern University, Melanie put her degree in Business Administration to use in the banking industry. She believed the best part of the banking world was visiting with clients and discovering their needs and wants in the financial realm. However, after several years in banking, it was clear there was another industry calling her name.

Melanie watched her Dad create and build a real estate company. She watched him help buyers and sellers make their dreams come true while providing for his family. After having a child and wanting something different for her family, Melanie decided to throw her hat into the real estate world. Thirty-six years later, she is still loving her field of work, and most of all, finding the perfect home for each family to call their own.

Melanie earned her real estate license in 1989 and has since been active in the Temple/Belton Board of Realtors, serving in various roles such as President, Director, MLS Chair, Professional Standards Chair, and founding member of the Board’s annual food drive for over 20 years. Because of her hard work and dedication to supporting the real estate industry, she was named “Realtor of the Year” in 2014, and received the Leadership Award in 2018. Melanie has also invested her time into deepening her expertise in real estate by becoming a Graduate of the Real Estate Institute (GRI), an Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), and a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS).

Community

Melanie has been incredibly involved in her community, having received the Community Builder Award in 2015 and Salado Mayor award in 2005. While she volunteers throughout Bell County, Salado has been her primary volunteer area, having served on the Salado Chamber of Commerce, Friends Feeding Friends, and Salado ISD School boards, and now currently serving on the board for the Salado Senior Center. Melanie also served on the board of the Salado Education Foundation for 7 years and loved awarding scholarships to the local Salado graduates each year. As the Broker/Owner of CENTURY 21 Bill Bartlett, Melanie finds it important that the company employ that same mindset. Therefore, CENTURY 21 Bill Bartlett received the Business of the Year award in 2014 and consistently gives back to the community in time and donations.

Family & Recreation

When she is not working or volunteering, Melanie can be found spending time with her family, whom she is grateful to have close by. She enjoys traveling with her family and friends. So far, they have taken trips to the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, the Baltic Sea, U.K., as well as a river cruise through Germany and France. She also spends time tending to her flower garden, where she grows some beautiful, colorful, and we have to say impressive irises.
