Have you heard the good news?!

Salado now has its very own senior activity center. The Salado Senior Center opened on June 8th with a ribbon cutting and health fair, which was well attended by the community.

Larry Nathanson, Founder of the Senior Center, long envisioned a place for this group of people to call their own. With that, he decided Salado was ready and gathered up a few trusty volunteers to help him get it started – one of those being our very own Melanie Kirchmeier.

After months of planning and preparation, the doors are finally open, activities are in full swing, and over 175 participants are registered. The Senior Center is open on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Youth Activity Center of Salado United Methodist Church (650 Royal Street). Participants age 55+ and volunteers alike are welcome to come and join in the fun! Here is what a typical month of activities at the Senior Center might look like…

One man had a dream and Salado made it happen. Thank you to Larry Nathanson and the Board for bringing the Senior Center to Salado, and to the community for your overwhelming support. We are excited for the future of the Salado Senior Center!
